Based on the latest data from the "Monthly Statistics Report" of the General Administration of Customs of China, the ASPENCORE Asia Pacific analyst team compiled and released the "Analysis of China's Electronic Products Import/Export in the First Half of 2020" report. The data shows that in the first half of this year, IC imports totaled 243.3 billion, a year-on-year increase of 25.5%; exports also maintained double-digit growth, totaling 112.6 billion, a year-on-year increase of 13.8%...

Based on the latest data from the China Customs General Administration's "Monthly Statistics Report", ASPENCORE's Asia-Pacific analyst team compiled and released the "Analysis of China's Electronic Products Import/Export in the First Half of 2020" report, which is summarized as follows.

 

China's integrated circuit import/export scale continued to expand in the first half of the year

 

From January to June 2020, China's IC imports continued to maintain rapid growth, with a total of 243.3 billion units imported, a year-on-year increase of 25.5%; the total import value was RMB 1,084.2 billion (approximately US$154.89 billion), a year-on-year increase of 16.0%.

 

 

From January to June 2020, China's IC exports continued to maintain double-digit growth, with cumulative exports of 112.6 billion units, a year-on-year increase of 13.8%; the cumulative total export value was 354.1 billion yuan (approximately US$50.59 billion), a year-on-year increase of 14.1%.

 

 

Import and export of discrete semiconductor devices

 

From January to June 2020, China's exports of discrete semiconductor devices were 245.6 billion units, a year-on-year decrease of 9.1%; the total export value was 108.3 billion yuan (approximately US$15.5 billion), a year-on-year decrease of 2.2%.

 

 

During the same period, China's imports of discrete semiconductor devices were 236.5 billion units, a year-on-year decrease of 1.7%; the total import value was 72.4 billion yuan (approximately US$10.34 billion), a year-on-year decrease of 2.5%.

 

 

China's electronic product import and export structure in the first half of 2020

 

From January to June this year, China's total imports of electronic products amounted to RMB 1,934.1 billion, of which ICs and electronic components accounted for 56.1% and 10.6% respectively. If semiconductor discrete devices and semiconductor manufacturing equipment are included, semiconductors accounted for 74.6% of the total imports of electronic products.

 

 

From January to June this year, China's total exports of electronic products amounted to RMB 2.2688 trillion, of which computers, electronic components, ICs and mobile phones had the largest export values, accounting for 29.0%, 18.0%, 15.6% and 15.0% respectively.

 

 

Overview of import and export of mobile phones and electric vehicles

 

From January to June 2020, China exported 386.41 million mobile phones, a year-on-year decrease of 11.7%; the total export value was 341.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.2%.

 

 

From January to June 2020, China imported a total of 48,000 electric passenger cars, a year-on-year decrease of 36.0%; the import value was 13.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 34.5%.

 

 

During the same period, the cumulative export of electric passenger cars was 69,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 36.8%; the export value was 7.72 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 250.5%.
