According to the latest news, Apple intends to expand the scope of use of Touch ID on the iPhone, and currently this fingerprint recognition only appears on the iPhone SE series.
The news mentioned that the outbreak of the new coronavirus has made Apple determined to use Touch ID on more iPhones. When it appears on higher-end models, one problem must be considered. It will not appear in a physical form, which will break the existing design. They prefer under-screen fingerprints, a technology that has been studied before.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about Touch ID returning to the iPhone. Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported in August 2019 that Apple will release an iPhone with both Face ID and under-screen Touch ID in 2021.
The source also revealed that Apple "has discussed removing the charging port on some iPhone models to develop wireless charging." It is not yet clear whether this change will apply to the iPhone 12S.
Previously, Ming-Chi Kuo predicted in 2019 that Apple would launch an iPhone without a Lightning interface in 2021.
There are also reports that Apple engineers internally refer to the 2021 iPhone as the "S" upgrade model, which means that its upgrade will not be too big compared to the iPhone 12.
