According to the news on April 21, the Korea Economic Daily reported on April 20 that Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong will go to the United States for three weeks in May to meet with CEOs of many technology giants and plan future business.
According to reports, Lee Jae-yong is finalizing a business trip to Silicon Valley in the United States to meet with Apple CEO Tim Cook and Google CEO Sundar Pichai. The trip will last until the middle of next month. The analysis is to envision Samsung's future business and strengthen cooperation between the companies through exchanges with information and communications technology (ICT) industry leaders.
Industry insiders said that Lee Jae-yong will leave for the United States as early as this weekend to accompany the president on his state visit to the United States. It is said that Lee Jae-yong’s business trip to the United States will be postponed to the second week of May (10-16). Since Lee Jae-yong's next court hearing will be held on May 26, there will be no obstacles to his business trip to the United States.
The United States is Samsung Electronics' largest market, and its local subsidiary's sales reached 86 trillion won last year (IT House Note: currently about 447.2 billion yuan). In terms of semiconductors and batteries, Samsung has multiple investment projects underway, so Lee has many unresolved issues to deal with.
Lee will hold a trip in the central and eastern United States in the first week of May, first visiting Verizon and other US telecommunications companies.
Lee Jae-yong may also visit the headquarters of a biological company in the eastern United States. Moderna, based in Massachusetts, is known for its close relationship with Samsung.
After that, Lee Jae-yong will travel to the western region of the United States to visit technology giants such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Tesla.
Lee Jae-yong is finalizing a schedule to meet with Apple CEO Cook and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, both of whom are close partners of Samsung.
In addition, Lee Jae-yong is expected to meet with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Amazon CEO Andy Jassy. Microsoft and Amazon, two of the world's top three cloud companies, are major customers of Samsung Electronics' memory unit.
