For Apple, it is indeed not an easy thing to make changes to its own lightning interface, because it means giving up billions of dollars in profits.
According to the latest report from foreign media, Apple will adjust the interfaces of new iPhones and iPads starting in 2021. Simply put, these devices will all use USB-C interfaces to ensure higher compatibility.
Prior to this, Japanese media reported that Apple's fourth-generation iPad Air will be equipped with a USB-C interface to replace the lightning interface. Apple first adopted the USB-C interface on the iPad Pro released in 2018, but other iPad models still use the lightning interface.
Earlier this year, rumors circulated that Apple was developing an 11-inch iPad Air that would be released in the second half of this year.
In addition, the iPhone 13 model that appeared last week also showed that the new phone seems to use a USB-C interface instead of a lightning interface. Although there have been rumors that the iPhone will use a USB-C interface, it has never been realized. At the same time, judging from the model, the iPhone 13 may use Samsung's new under-panel sensor technology, which allows the camera to be installed under the screen.
For Apple, switching from the lightning interface to USB-C is not the final choice. It will truly achieve interface-free, that is, the iPhone's charging interface will not be retained, and it will be replaced by truly wireless charging.
The industry chain has previously stated that Apple may provide a "completely wireless experience" in its high-end iPhone in 2021, which will use wireless charging with Smart Connector for data transmission.
