On November 22, according to Cailianshe, the latest report from market intelligence firm TrendForce predicts that Apple’s A15 chip in the 2021 iPhone will continue to use the 5nm process, but will switch to an enhanced “5nm+” version.
It is reported that TSMC calls 5nm+ N5P and describes it as a performance-enhanced version that combines greater power with higher efficiency to improve battery life. So far, the iPhone 12 is the only smartphone that uses TSMC's 5nm advanced process capabilities.
In addition, in addition to the 5nm process, manufacturers such as TSMC and Samsung Electronics have begun researching 3nm and 2nm processes, which are expected to be mass-produced in 2025.
