Apple CEO Tim Cook has agreed to speak at Gallaudet University's graduation ceremony. Gallaudet University is an educational institution that teaches deaf, deaf-blind and hard of hearing students. Gallaudet University publicly confirmed the announcement via a brief Twitter exchange on Saturday, sharing a video featuring undergraduate speaker Molly Feanny, who invited Cook to speak at the school's 152nd graduation ceremony on May 13.

The invitation lasted more than a minute, with Feanny using American Sign Language and the video captioned and dubbed. Feanny called Cook "an amazing visionary and leader" and said the university was honored to have him here to speak for them.

It was mentioned that the event would be the first planned in-person graduation ceremony at Gallaudet University since COVID. The acclaimed Apple TV+ film CODA was also mentioned, along with the company's support for the university's deaf community.

In response to the invitation, Cook tweeted, "My honor! See you then!" Shortly after, CODA cast member Marlee Matlin tweeted, "I'm so excited Tim! I'm so happy. For you and the students of #GalaudeUniversity."

Following the Twitter exchange, Gallaudet University also issued a formal press release in which university president Roberta J. Cordano praised Cook. "Tim is an exceptional visionary and one of the truly great CEOs of our time, who will undoubtedly leave a lasting mark for generations to come. As the leader of one of the world's most admired brands, Tim has demonstrated a deep commitment to diversity, inclusion, representation, and accessibility - values that are so important to our Gallaudet community and many other underrepresented groups."
