According to a new report from Morgan Stanley, the iPhone "gained installed base share" in China in July, the first time since last fall, which was "largely a result of the success of the iPhone 11."
The report also mentioned that data showed that the number of iPhones in China that are more than two years old has "set a record", laying the foundation for a "potentially strong upgrade cycle" after the 5G iPhone is released in the fall. This "major" upgrade cycle is "the strongest in at least four years" and it is expected that iPhone shipments "will accelerate significantly in fiscal 21."
The analysts also noted that smartphone sales in China fell year-on-year in July, but expected Apple to "modestly outperform the broader market." Since the outbreak of the new coronavirus, China's smartphone market has now improved significantly.
Apple's third-quarter financial report shows that its revenue in Greater China totaled $9.3 billion, up from $9.2 billion in the same period last year.
