On August 15, a signing ceremony was held for the Honghui Flywheel Energy Storage East China Regional Headquarters Base Project and the Wuxi Integrated Circuit and Energy Storage Research Institute.
According to a report from Wuxi Daily, Beijing Honghui International Energy Technology Development Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Honghui Energy") will build its East China regional headquarters in Wuxi High-tech Zone to promote the development and growth of the flywheel energy storage industry chain in Wuxi.
Flywheel energy storage refers to a storage method that uses an electric motor to drive a flywheel to rotate at high speed, converting electrical energy into kinetic energy and storing it. When needed, the flywheel is used to drive a generator to generate electricity, converting kinetic energy into electrical energy.
Zhang Dongxiao, executive vice president of the Graduate School of Peking University, said that flywheel energy storage has many advantages such as being green, environmentally friendly and highly safe, and can promote green production. After the Wuxi Institute of Integrated Circuits and Energy Storage is put into use, it will also actively explore the organic combination of flywheel technology with industries such as the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, conduct research and development of core technologies and promote their application, and provide users with systematic solutions.
It is reported that Honghui Energy was established in 2015. It is a high-tech enterprise that converts aerospace technology into civilian use. With flywheel technology as the core, the company provides comprehensive system solutions such as energy management, energy-saving transformation, and clean energy development. Its products have been applied to improving power quality in integrated circuit factories, flywheel energy storage UPS in data centers, energy recovery in rail transit, and new energy storage.
According to China Business magazine, Honghui Energy also won an order for GlobalFoundries' 12-inch wafer project.
