- In February of this year, the Telecommunications Terminal Industry Association issued the "Android Virtual Terminal Device Identification Specification on Personal Computers", which provides an industry reference for the ecological integration of applications
. Today, Yang Zhengjun, director of the Digital Technology Governance Research Department of the Telecommunication Terminal Laboratory of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, visited the scene and gave a wonderful report on "Research on the Android Virtual Terminal Ecosystem on PC". A year ago, in order to help Android applications run smoothly on PCs, Intel and Tencent launched the Tencent App Treasure PC version. Currently, this integrated ecosystem has covered thousands of cross-platform applications. On the occasion of the first anniversary, Intel and Tencent jointly announced that with the support of Intel Celedon, Intel® Bridge technology base and open integrated ecological framework, the two parties will carry out four major upgrades to the Tencent App Treasure PC version, allowing users to enjoy a cross-platform and cross-ecological mobile application experience.
The application integration ecosystem has entered the "standardization" stage. The "Android Virtual Terminal Device Identification Specification on Personal Computers" was proposed and coordinated by the Telecommunications Terminal Industry Association and jointly drafted by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and various companies . It has established an Android virtual device identification system for personal computers. This standard specifies the standards for the use of integrated ecosystem simulators, allowing the industry to follow the requirements to develop a unified interface calling method, facilitate mobile application access, reduce maintenance costs, and further promote the application integration ecosystem.
Dr. Ying Li, Vice President of Intel Corporation and General Manager of Intel China Software and Advanced Technology Group, said: "We share a common vision with Tencent App Store - to promote open, integrated, and computing power-sharing software services. In the future, we will work closely together to leverage the computing power advantages of the Intel platform and the open integration technology framework, with the help of Intel's PC industry ecosystem chain and Tencent App Store's deep accumulation in the mobile application ecosystem, to jointly achieve a converged PC application ecosystem and use the 'core' to help enrich and better user experience."
Powered by Intel's powerful technology, Tencent App Store PC version has four major upgrades
According to industry insiders, with the popularity and integration of various smart devices in the future, mobile applications and games will have more cross-end experience requirements. In order to further promote the integrated ecosystem, on the first anniversary of the release of Tencent App Store PC version, Intel and Tencent jointly announced that Tencent App Store PC version has made major upgrades in the following four aspects:
First, in terms of user experience, the Android version of the mobile application engine has been upgraded from 12 to 13, and a new parallel vision function has been added, which can truly make one screen work as two screens. When upgrading the multi-screen + keyboard mapping in the Windows environment, various interfaces are clear at a glance, making the use of mobile applications on PC more comfortable and efficient. The newly added AI computing power sharing function also allows mobile applications to give full play to the AI performance of the Intel platform and experience smarter. Second, in terms of platform optimization, the performance of Intel's latest platform has been greatly improved, the integrated graphics card has enhanced display performance, and the high frame rate mode and video enhancement can bring users a high-quality experience of high-definition large screens without wasting every frame. Third, for new applications and games, the new platform can adapt quickly and stably, and can also ensure the compatibility of expanding overseas applications, covering all application scenarios. Fourth, Intel and Tencent also actively support the standardization and security of the integrated ecosystem, not only promoting the standardization of cross-platform frameworks, but also jointly creating a safer desktop operating environment to benefit the entire industry.
At present, with the powerful performance and large-screen hardware advantages of the Intel platform, users can already run multiple large Android applications and Windows applications at the same time. Imagine that while watching a live football game, users can also play a mobile game on the PC stably and smoothly. While editing and processing videos in the background, they can still read novels online and enjoy the smooth experience of sharing computing power, resources, and free switching of tasks among multiple devices.
In the future, as AI application scenarios are increasingly implemented in PC and mobile applications, we believe that through the support of the fusion framework and Tencent App Store PC version, Intel's AI capabilities can be shared with various application ecosystems, fully demonstrating the advantages of local AI's low latency, low cost, and availability at any time regardless of whether the system is online or offline, greatly surpassing the original experience of mobile applications.
One flower does not make spring. Intel implements the integrated ecosystem with the vision of "AI + Application"
Intel firmly believes that the integrated ecosystem can bring new vitality to the market. Intel and Tencent App Store have started in-depth cooperation since 2022, based on the common vision of cross-ecological integration and "AI + Application", to jointly create integrated ecological PC applications.
The launch of Tencent App Store PC version is inseparable from the strong support of Intel Celadon open source project and Intel® Bridge technology. After years of accumulation, these two technologies have successfully broken the barriers between Intel platform and ARM architecture. Developers only need to perform lightweight development and adaptation to easily adapt mobile applications to PC and achieve cross-end compatibility. This innovation not only supports the application split-screen function, but also can call PC camera, microphone and location positioning and other hardware resources, while supporting multi-tasking and multi-window operation, allowing users to easily switch between different applications, and realize the PC and mobile terminal integration experience to a higher level.
In addition to the technical foundation, Intel's open fusion ecological framework contributes to the new PC scenario. Intel's open fusion ecological framework consists of an open fusion software framework, software library/inference engine/Runtime, heterogeneous AI acceleration, cross-OS underlying software, and hardware. In AI technology, adhering to the concept of "open source and promoting the entire fusion ecosystem", oneAPI simplifies cross-architecture collaborative computing and optimizes AI/ML tools and frameworks. On the terminal side, Intel also has out-of-the-box optimizations for mainstream open source AI software frameworks, making it easy to expand large language model application development to the edge and terminal, lowering the threshold for generative AI application development.
As the first PC application supported by Intel's integrated ecosystem framework, Tencent App Treasure PC version has the following advantages: App Treasure currently gathers a large number of mobile applications and can provide rich content for the PC ecosystem. In terms of products, App Treasure PC version provides users with a native Windows application experience, especially in terms of cross-terminal experience differences, and optimizes the adaptation of login and payment links. For developers, App Treasure PC version provides diversified growth and commercialization opportunities, and supports a full range of business links, including advertising, in-app purchases, and PC malls.
The integrated ecological framework of Intel and Tencent is still expanding, and will explore application expansion in the field of smart cockpits in the future. In the field of software-defined smart cockpits, through Intel's hardware, virtualization, security and other technologies, it is also possible to integrate multiple ecosystems, build a secure computing environment, and support high-computing algorithm products and cloud services such as large models in smart cockpits. Through efforts, the two parties will quickly migrate existing PC applications to the car system in the future and provide users with a car version of the application store. This means that the multi-tasking adaptation experience based on the large screen on the PC can also be easily transferred to the car screen, achieving the effect of one-time adaptation and multi-scenario application. At present, Intel and its partners are actively exploring more cooperation possibilities in car scenarios.
Open source sharing to create an integrated ecosystem
The deep integration of open source sharing and AI is driving the rapid upgrading of various industries. In this era of change, Intel will continue to work with the industry to explore the PC in the AI era to create open and integrated software services, helping the application ecosystem to flourish and set sail.
