[November 13, 2024, Munich, Germany] Infineon Technologies AG, a global semiconductor leader in power systems and the Internet of Things, recently announced the launch of the first product in the latest AURIX™ TC4x series, the AURIX™ TC4Dx microcontroller (MCU). Based on 28nm technology, the AURIX™ TC4Dx provides more powerful performance and high-speed connectivity . It combines improvements in power and performance with the latest trends in virtualization, artificial intelligence (AI), functional safety, cybersecurity and network functions, laying the foundation for the realization of new electronic/electrical (E/E) architectures and the next generation of software-defined cars. MCUs like the AURIX™ TC4Dx are critical for controlling and monitoring various systems in automobiles, such as vehicle motion control, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and chassis.
Infineon AURIX™ TC4x
“MCUs like Infineon’s new AURIX™ TC4Dx are the backbone of the software-defined car and are key to further improving vehicle performance, safety and comfort,” said Thomas Boehm, Senior Vice President Microcontrollers at Infineon Technologies . “AURIX™ TC4Dx will further ensure processing performance and efficiency and help customers accelerate time to market and reduce total system costs.”
AURIX™ TC4Dx features an advanced multi-core architecture with a new 500MHz TriCore™ hexa-core processor, all cores with lockstep capabilities for higher functional safety performance. With the Parallel Processing Unit (PPU), the MCU provides an innovative platform for developing AI-based embedded use cases such as motor control, battery management systems or vehicle motion control. The MCU is supported by a strong software ecosystem, including network accelerators for enhanced Ethernet and CAN communications, as well as the latest interfaces such as 5 Gbit/s Ethernet, PCIe, 10Base-T1S and CAN-XL. This increase in network throughput and connection speed provides customers with the performance and flexibility they need to implement E/E architectures. The overall functional safety of AURIX™ TC4Dx meets the highest functional safety requirements of ISO26262 ASIL-D. The MCU also complies with the latest ISO/SAE21434 cybersecurity standards, including support for post-quantum encryption technology.
Availability
The AURIX™ TC4Dx is currently sampling and will be available in volume production in 2025. For more information, visit www.infineon.com/aurixTC4x. Infineon will be showcasing the new MCU at electronica 2024 in Munich from November 12-15 (Hall C3, Booth 502).
Infineon Technologies to participate in electronica 2024
At this year's Munich International Electronic Components Fair, Infineon will showcase innovative solutions that help build an all-electric society. Visitors can explore the company's sustainable technologies, which bring changes to the transportation and automotive fields, realize sustainable buildings and smarter life, promote the development of AI, and reduce the impact on the environment. The company will showcase smart energy-saving solutions for the future connected world at booth 502 in Hall C3 from November 12 to 15 with the theme of "Digital Low Carbon, Create the Future Together".
