US releases results of investigation into DJI's copyright infringement
According to domestic media reports, at 5 a.m. Beijing time today, the U.S. International Trade Commission made a final ruling on the 337 investigation against DJI: no ban would be issued .
At present, DJI has also confirmed the news .
On August 30, 2018, Autel Robotics filed an application with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) pursuant to Section 337 of the U.S. Tariff Act of 1930, alleging that Shenzhen DJI Innovations Technology Co., Ltd. and its affiliates infringed its patent rights by exporting drones and their components to, importing into, or selling in the U.S. , and requested the ITC to initiate a 337 investigation and issue a limited exclusion order and a cease and desist order.
On May 22, 2020, Finnegan LLP, the law firm representing DJI in this case, issued a statement saying that all relevant claims in the three patents that DJI was accused of infringing had been declared invalid as of the evening of May 21, Beijing time .
Public information shows that Autel Robotics is a U.S. subsidiary of a Chinese company headquartered in Washington. It focuses on drone technology and products, and is also known for its quadcopters and camera drones.
