"One drop of blood to check health" is not reliable! But with the support of ADI's full signal chain high-performance products, the potential of small-dose samples is beyond your imagination.

Recently, at the 11th China International Medical Electronics Technology Conference (CMET 2018) held in Shenzhen, ADI Medical Business Application Manager Yu Yigang gave a presentation on the theme of " Application of ADI Vital Signs Signal Monitoring and In Vitro Diagnostic Technology ". He sorted out and presented ADI's high-performance product array throughout the entire medical and health system from prevention, diagnosis to treatment and disease management to medical electronics industry professionals on site, and focused on sharing ADI's series of products and system-level solutions for in vitro diagnostic IVD (in-Vitro Diagnostics) applications.

In vitro diagnostic technology

Pursue fast, small dose, high precision

In vitro diagnosis refers to the testing of human blood, body fluids, tissues and other samples outside the human body to obtain clinical information and then judge the body's diseases and functions. According to statistics, about two-thirds of global medical decisions are currently made based on diagnostic information. Therefore, further improving diagnostic technology and means is an important guarantee for enhancing the effectiveness of disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment. EvaluateMedTech data shows that in 2017, in vitro diagnostic sales reached US$52.6 billion, accounting for 13.0% of the global medical device market share, making it the largest segment in the medical device industry. China's population accounts for about 20% of the world's total population, but the in vitro diagnostic market accounts for less than 5% of the global market. With the continuous improvement of medical and health levels, China's in vitro diagnostic industry has developed rapidly.

"Every year, the trend of 'one drop of blood to test your health' blows hard, because too many people are tired of having to draw several tubes of blood every time they have a checkup, and they hope that 'one drop of blood' can do everything. ' One drop of blood to check your health ' is unreliable! But with the support of ADI's full signal chain high-performance products, the potential of small-dose samples is beyond your imagination!" Yu Yigang said, "As a representative manufacturer of high-performance signal chains, ADI has been committed to providing industry-leading small-dose, fast, and high-precision detection solutions." Take the in vitro biochemical analyzer as an example. It contains a variety of different technologies, such as spectral analysis, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), electrochemistry, pH (ISE, pH), liquid level, fluid control and sample processing functions, automatic control, and data processing systems, and the system integration is very complex. Among them, optical system control and accuracy are key elements of the system; reagent volume control is important to reduce costs and ensure consistency; measurement speed is very important and is very sensitive to temperature fluctuations.

ADI provides various amplifiers for I/V conversion, filter design, signal conditioning and ADC driving, and provides data conversion, signal processing, temperature monitoring and power management solutions to optimize the product quality and reliability of biochemical analyzer applications. In addition to biochemical analyzers, ADI also provides a variety of IVD equipment solutions including hematology analyzers, flow cytometers, infusion pumps, ventilators, etc. At the same time, in order to help customers quickly launch products to the market, ADI provides evaluation boards, simulation tools and application expertise to support customers' design and development work.

Yu Yigang also pointed out that IVD equipment has different power requirements from the equipment itself to each subsystem, and many high-precision systems are extremely sensitive to power noise, which places high demands on power management solutions. After integrating Linear, ADI's power product line has been greatly expanded, and it can provide a variety of power management system solutions for IVD equipment applications.

Vital sign signal monitoring

Wearable and high-performance are common needs inside and outside the hospital

From the perspective of the application of vital sign signal monitoring, the demand in hospitals is still mainly for high performance and immediate professional services, but the emerging trends focus on wearables and wireless transmission. In contrast, outside the hospital, in order to meet the needs of users to obtain feedback at any time without being restricted by time and space, the products require low power consumption, compactness, ease of wear, wireless transmission and data services.

ADI's high-performance products fully cover the entire signal chain from signal acquisition, signal processing to data communication, and provide system-level solutions that integrate small size, low power consumption and ultra-low noise power supply . For example, the breakthrough ultra-low power 3-axis digital MEMS product ADXL362 consumes only 270 nA in motion detection wake-up mode, and the operating current is as low as 1.8uA. Its ultra-low power consumption feature is an ideal solution for wearable sports monitoring equipment; the integrated photoelectric measurement module ADPD188 and analog front end ADPD1080 that provide the best ambient light interference suppression performance in the same category are very suitable for applications such as optical heart rate monitors and reflective blood oxygen saturation measurement; the high-precision, low-power on-chip meter ADuCM350 has achieved milestone progress in many representative major customers at home and abroad; the low-power, single-lead, ECG analog front end (AFE) AD8233 is designed to meet the medical-grade ECG signal conditioning requirements of emerging fitness equipment, portable/wearable monitoring equipment and remote health monitoring equipment, etc.

Finally, Yu Yigang once again emphasized that ADI will continue to work with partners across the entire ecosystem from prevention, diagnosis to treatment and disease management with an open mind to jointly promote the technological development of China's medical industry and help realize the goal of a "Healthy China" of healthy and longevity for the people as soon as possible.
