As a world-leading provider of high-performance analog technology, ADI relies on its long-term rich experience in the automotive electronics industry to provide high-efficiency, high-reliability and safety solutions, helping battery management and powertrain systems improve their performance while making them smaller and more reliable, continuously promoting the development of new energy vehicles towards a more environmentally friendly and efficient direction.
ADI Battery Management System (BMS) Advantages
For the development of new energy vehicles, the importance of battery management system is self-evident. As lithium batteries have excellent electrical energy and power characteristics in the field of hybrid vehicles and pure electric vehicles, the automotive industry currently generally chooses lithium battery solutions. BMS technology prevents the danger of overcharging and over-discharging of single cells by thermal management of power batteries, start-stop battery cooling system, and management of balance between single cells. At the same time, it monitors the health status of the overall battery and isolates strong and weak electrical signals, thereby improving battery pack efficiency, extending life, and ensuring safety.
ADI's fourth-generation lithium battery master monitoring IC product LTC6811 can monitor the voltage and temperature of 12 channels (future products will provide more channel options), with an ultimate accuracy better than 1.2 mV; it can be daisy-chained; it provides the industry's fastest conversion speed and best data protection; it can detect data from 12 channels within 290μs; and it provides passive battery cell balancing control. The digital isolator iCoupler® optimized for automotive applications has the lowest power consumption performance at high speeds, as well as the advantages of small package size and multiple channel options, requiring the least number of components and occupying the least circuit board area. isoPower® is ADI's unique integrated power digital isolator solution, which provides isolated power and multi-channel digital isolation. Compared with discrete DC to DC isolators plus digital isolators, isoPower has lower costs and occupies less area.
ADI's latest generation of lithium battery BMS solutions based on LTC6811 products, iCoupler® and isoPower® technologies have high-precision monitoring functions, can maintain good performance in harsh environments, provide reliable and safe power management, and effectively reduce the overall cost of the system.
