Apple today released Safari 15.1 beta for macOS Big Sur and macOS Catalina, allowing developers to test Safari updates before they are released. Safari 15.1 is also the version of Safari available in the macOS Monterey beta.
In yesterday's macOS Monterey release, Apple tweaked the design of the Favorites bar, moving it back above the tab bar, back to where it was before the Safari changes were implemented in the macOS Monterey update and Safari 15. Safari 15.1 also made the same adjustments to the Favorites bar.
macOS Monterey completely changed the look of Safari with a new tab design, but that proved to be unpopular with users. Since then, Apple has been improving Safari's design, and with the release of Safari 15, the changes in macOS Monterey have also been made available to users of macOS Big Sur and macOS Catalina.
Registered developers can download the Safari 15.1 beta by logging in and navigating to the More Downloads section. To install the beta, the latest version of macOS Big Sur or macOS Catalina needs to be installed.
