Taiwan's IC industry output value increased in Q1 2021 and is expected to exceed US$128.5 billion for the whole year

Recently, the Industrial Technology Research Institute's Industrial Science and Technology International Research Institute calculated the overall IC industry output value in Taiwan in the first quarter of 2021.

In terms of total output value, the scale was as high as NT$904.7 billion, which is US$30.6 billion calculated at an exchange rate of NT$ to the US dollar of 29.6, an increase of 2.6% from the previous quarter and 25.0% from the same period in 2020.

Among them, the output value of the IC design industry was US$8.8 billion, an increase of 5.3% from the previous quarter and 49.1% from the same period in 2020; the IC manufacturing industry was US$16.9 billion, an increase of 1.4% from the previous quarter and 19.3% from the same period in 2020, of which wafer foundry was US$14.8 billion, an increase of 0.1% from the previous quarter and 15.5% from the same period in 2020. Memory and other manufacturing was US$21, an increase of 11.4% from the previous quarter and 54.1% from the same period in 2020; the IC packaging industry was US$3.3 billion, an increase of 0.4% from the previous quarter and 9.9% from the same period in 2020; the IC testing industry was US$1.6 billion, an increase of 5.7% from the previous quarter and 13.6% from the same period in 2020.

In addition, the latest forecast of the Industrial Technology Research Institute's Industrial Science and Technology International Institute is that Taiwan's IC industry output value will reach US$128.5 billion in 2021, an increase of 18.1% over 2020. Among them, the output value of the IC design industry is US$37.6 billion, an increase of 30.5% over 2020; the IC manufacturing industry is US$70.6 billion, an increase of 14.8% over 2020; the IC packaging industry is US$13.9 billion, an increase of 9.1% over 2020; and the IC testing industry is US$64 billion, an increase of 10.8% over 2020.
