According to foreign media reports, Intel confirmed that 70 employees working for a construction contractor were infected with the new coronavirus during the expansion of the company's Irish manufacturing plant. Intel said that the company learned of the outbreak at the plant last weekend. The plant is located in Leixlip, about 10 miles (about 16.1 kilometers) west of Dublin city center.

Intel issued a statement saying: "We understand that the number of positive cases of the virus at the plant is approximately 70, but the situation is still changing. Our contractors are actively working with the relevant public health authorities to conduct all necessary follow-up. We are doing everything we can to support them to understand what happened and how to address it through corrective actions."

"For all confirmed cases, contact tracing has been conducted and all other workers who may have been exposed have been asked to self-quarantine and monitor their health. Further testing of workers at the construction site is ongoing and any affected areas are being deep cleaned and disinfected," Intel said.

It is reported that the expansion of the Leixlip plant began in 2019.
