Foreign media MacRumors reported that Apple today released new 3C39 firmware designed for AirPods Max. This is the second firmware update this high-end over-ear headphones has received since it was launched in December last year.
The new 3C39 firmware replaces the 3C16 release firmware that was released on the day AirPods Max was launched.
Apple has not provided details on what the new firmware update includes, so we are not sure yet what bug fixes or improvements the new firmware might provide. There have been reports of battery life issues with AirPods Max, so it is possible that the firmware update will address this issue.
IT Home learned that previously, some AirPods Max users said that their batteries were obviously depleted overnight, even in the smart earphone case.
There's no standard way to upgrade the firmware on AirPods, AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max, but connecting AirPods Max to an iPhone or iPad while connected to a power source may force an update.
You can check the firmware on your AirPods Max by following these steps:
Connect your AirPods Max to your iOS device.
Open the Settings app.
Click General.
Click About.
Tap AirPods.
Look at the number next to "Firmware Version."
In the past, updates to AirPods Pro and AirPods have typically included performance improvements, bug fixes, and feature tweaks.
