Sina Digital News reported on the morning of January 8 that Apple has updated its 13-inch MacBook Pro notebook screen repair plan. The warranty period for this part of the eligible laptop is up to five years from the date of purchase, or up to three years from the start date of the repair plan (whichever is longer) and can be replaced free of charge. The four years after the purchase date before the update.
Some of Apple's 13-inch MacBook Pro machines sold between October 2016 and February 2018 may experience backlight anomalies at the bottom of the screen or even fail to work at all, so they launched the program on May 21, 2019. Eligible models include MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Two USB-C Ports) and MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four USB-C Ports).
For machines with problems, Apple's official after-sales service or authorized service providers will replace the display for free, and users need to make an appointment for repair. If you have previously paid for official repairs for this problem, you can contact Apple for a refund (unofficial repairs are not covered).
In 2019, teardown and repair site iFixit reported that the backlight problem was caused by a flex cable that frayed and broke after being repeatedly opened and closed on the machine. Apple lengthened the flex cable by 2mm in the 2018 model, which seemed to solve the problem.
