Apple released its fourth-quarter financial report for fiscal year 2020 yesterday, with Mac revenue of $9 billion, setting a new quarterly record. Apple's annual Mac revenue this year was $28.6 billion, also a record high.
Apple reported in its annual 10-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission today that Mac sales increased in fiscal 2020 compared to fiscal 2019, primarily due to increased sales of the MacBook Pro. Apple launched a new 16-inch MacBook Pro in the first quarter of the fiscal year, followed by an updated 13-inch MacBook Pro in the third quarter, both with faster Intel processors and a more reliable Magic Keyboard.
Apple finance chief Luca Maestri said the company also saw "phenomenal response" to the new MacBook Air during the back-to-school season.
Apple is thriving despite economic uncertainty, with both Mac and iPad sales strong as many people continue to work, study and stay connected with friends and family from home. Apple said on its earnings call Thursday that its products combined, excluding the iPhone, grew 30% last quarter, despite supply constraints that affected iPad, Mac and Apple Watch throughout the quarter.
