VIAVI ONMSi provides fiber assurance for peak network performance
Shanghai, China, December 6, 2021 – VIAVI Solutions (VIAVI) recently announced that XL Axiata, a leading converged network operator in Indonesia, is using the VIAVI ONMSi optical network monitoring system to improve visibility into its fiber network. The ONMSi solution features intelligent remote testing and monitoring capabilities, enabling operators to achieve peak performance, minimize downtime and optimize subscriber experience.
As XL Axiata works to deploy 5G technology, a solid fiber network is essential to achieve high-speed, reliable data transmission from the core to the edge. In recent years, network operators have invested heavily in fiber backbone networks to expand their network coverage and, in turn, their service offerings. To ensure the integrity and performance of its network, XL Axiata selected VIAVI remote fiber testing and monitoring solutions to identify, locate, and quickly correct fiber faults, aging, or accidental damage.
As part of VIAVI's award-winning remote testing and monitoring solution series, ONMSi enables centralized management and end-to-end real-time visibility of the entire fiber optic facility, automatically locates fiber faults and aging, and significantly improves performance and time to market while increasing staff efficiency. ONMSi can also detect minor aging phenomena such as dirty connectors, crushed or bent fibers without powering off, which may cause signal damage. In addition, the large amount of network performance data collected can also provide a basis for optimizing maintenance operations and improving planning capacity.
“Providing XL Axiata with remote fiber testing and monitoring solutions further deepens our long-standing partnership with the Axiata Group and complements its adoption of VIAVI test and validation solutions for mobile networks,” said Rajesh Rao, Vice President of Asia Pacific and Japan at VIAVI. “With the VIAVI ONMSi platform, XL Axiata technicians will be able to easily locate and proactively resolve any aging issues in their fiber network to ensure that wireline connectivity as well as new 5G services deliver a world-class customer experience.”
“As the first network operator to launch 4.5G in Indonesia, XL Axiata has built a reputation for delivering quality services with leading-edge technology. VIAVI is a natural partner to help us get the most value from our latest and most advanced infrastructure by maximizing the return on our fiber assets, together with systems integrator Telemedia,” said I Gede Darmayusa, Chief Technology Officer, XL Axiata. “We selected VIAVI’s innovative remote fiber monitoring solution to accelerate our 5G network build-out while ensuring we can continue to deliver a great experience to our existing customers in a consistent and reliable manner.”
