Mouser now stocks Renesas' high-performance FemtoClock2 synthesizer for programmable fiber optic modules
October 14, 2021 – Mouser Electronics, Inc., the premier New Product Introduction (NPI) and widest selection of electronic components, is now stocking Renesas Electronics FemtoClock2 high-performance clock frequency synthesizers. Offering ultra-low jitter performance of 64fs RMS, these synthesizers can be installed near switches, ASICs, FPGAs, or PHYs that require multiple reference clocks with sub-100fs jitter performance. In addition, these high-performance devices can be used as tunable OTN reference clocks required for OTU3/OTU4 mapping, and can also be used as reference clocks for programmable fiber modules.
The Renesas FemtoClock2 synthesizer family, available from Mouser, includes the RC22504A synthesizer and the RC32504A jitter attenuator and synthesizer. These devices can also be used as DCOs for frequency margining or OTN clocking applications. The PLL cores of these devices include a fractional-feedback analog PLL (digital PLL is optional for the RC32504A device) and operate with crystals ranging in frequency from 25MHz to 80MHz.
FemtoClock2 synthesizers feature four differential outputs or eight LVCMOS outputs, supporting any frequency from 10MHz up to 1GHz (up to 180MHz using LVCMOS). With customer-definable internal one-time programmable memory, these versatile synthesizers automatically configure after reset to use up to four different configurations.
The evaluation platform for the FemtoClock2 synthesizer is the RC22504A evaluation kit. Engineers can use the Renesas RICBox software to develop configurations, which are then uploaded to the evaluation board via a USB connection. The evaluation kit is equipped with a Renesas low-noise power regulator and a Renesas low-noise fan-out buffer.
