November 15, 2024, Tessenderlo, Belgium - Melexis, a global microelectronics engineering company, announced the launch of the ultra-low power Hall effect switch chip MLX92235 . This product has excellent reliability and highly predictable output update rate tolerance, which brings major breakthroughs in the field of automotive micro-power applications. It can be widely used in door handles, electronic latches, sun visor controls, infotainment system buttons, brake light switches and other scenarios.
For modern vehicles, many systems rely on precise switching and latching mechanisms to obtain instant feedback. Given the number of switches widely distributed inside the car, it is critical to ensure that they operate efficiently and minimize power consumption. Every microwatt saved is significant. Melexis' MLX92235 microwatt switch chip is available in 4 product model versions to meet these needs. This three-wire monolithic magnetic switch chip ensures optimal performance throughout the vehicle's service life with industry-leading accuracy, excellent consistency and reliability.
To minimize the board space, the MLX92235 uses a standard automotive-grade TSOT23-3L package that does not require any external components. Faced with the harsh requirements of the vehicle environment, the switch chip can maintain stable and reliable operating performance over a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to 105°C. In addition, the chip's flexible input voltage, magnetic threshold selection, temperature coefficient, update rate and output options (push-pull or open-drain mode) make it easy to integrate into a variety of vehicle systems.
The MLX92235 features an advanced power design and integrated automatic sleep/wake-up logic, with a typical sleep current consumption of only 0.65μA at 1.8V. In addition, the product supports optional sleep time settings from 0.6ms to 800ms.
As a highly sensitive Hall sensor chip with chopper stabilization, the MLX92235 can provide accurate and contactless feedback in a variety of magnetic functional applications (including unipolar/omnipolar switch or latch configuration). With its versatility, compact size and efficient performance, the MLX92235 will bring excellent designs to automotive engineers. Its feedback mechanism can also further promote the development of intelligent vehicle functions, such as automatically triggering the lighting of the interior ambient light when opening the door or sun visor, enhancing the intelligence and atmosphere of the driving experience.
“The new MLX92235 from Melexis offers outstanding low-power performance in contactless Hall-effect sensors while ensuring the reliability and accuracy of the sensor, making it a perfect replacement for traditional mechanical switches in cars,” said Minko Daskalov, Product Line Manager at Melexis . “This innovation will help automotive engineers to intelligently upgrade various automotive switch and latch functions, thus providing a more convenient and efficient driving experience for end users.”
