China Unicom’s official WeChat public account recently published an article discussing the use of 5G in the field of industrial Internet, which is as follows:

1. Sea: Enabling intelligent shipbuilding to “ride the wind and waves”

In order to give full play to the synergy effect among enterprises, China Unicom has joined hands with leading enterprises in the industry to create a collaborative design service platform based on the shipbuilding industry, which enables functions such as direct participation of suppliers in modeling and online delivery of models, greatly improving work efficiency in the design process.

In addition, Shanghai Unicom and a large domestic shipyard have jointly created the world's first ship self-organizing network application that combines 5G technology, which has achieved full network coverage of important cabins of large ships and provided high-quality network coverage guarantees for applications such as internal ship security, video surveillance, and offshore offices.

2. Lu: Ignite the new "spark" of wisdom in the steel industry

The steel industry is a large and complex process industry and is in the middle of the entire manufacturing chain, with large amounts of data, rich scenarios and extensive connections.

China Unicom has cooperated deeply with Baosteel Zhanjiang Steel to innovatively build the world's first 5G independent core network industrial intranet system in the steel industry, breaking through the previous unified and closed construction and operation model of telecommunications networks, and overcoming the technical difficulties of 5G technology in complex scenarios such as high temperature and high risk. A number of key bottleneck technologies for 5G in industrial applications have been developed to provide customized network services for corporate business needs and application systems.

3. Air: Adding “wings” to aircraft manufacturing

Aircraft manufacturing is complex, with millions of parts and components. Manual labor alone is inefficient and costly. China Unicom has actively explored with a leading domestic aircraft manufacturing company, built the country's first 5G fully connected factory, and created a number of demonstration applications, such as: 5G-based AR assisted assembly and remote assistance applications; aircraft fastener detection system based on 8K ultra-high-definition video; 5G-based multi-AGV collaborative workshop-level intelligent distribution system, etc., which simplifies the extremely complex system engineering of aircraft manufacturing, reduces labor costs by 20%, improves quality inspection efficiency by 30%, improves logistics efficiency by 15%, and improves equipment utilization by 5%.

4. Underground: Achieving safe production in mines

In the past, mentioning coal mines would bring to mind accidents such as gas explosions and landslides, and the task of safe production was very arduous. In order to achieve real-time transmission of underground and surface data and video, remote control of equipment, and gradually shift from a few people to no people in production, in June this year, China Unicom successfully built the first 5G underground commercial network covering more than 100 kilometers of tunnels at 800 meters underground in the Pangpangta Coal Mine in Luliang, Shanxi, marking that China Unicom's 5G+ smart mining solution has entered a new stage of large-scale promotion.

5. Energy: Create a three-dimensional inspection system for integrated land and air power facilities

Power plant equipment maintenance has very high time requirements. In order to reduce time and labor costs, China Unicom Zhejiang Branch and Huaneng Group Zhejiang Branch jointly created a 5G multi-functional unmanned inspection robot pilot, becoming the country's first 5G digital upgrade application for thermal power plants.

6. Equipment manufacturing: Let intelligent engineering machinery show its strengths

The outdoor working environment is complex and the engineering construction is difficult. China Unicom has joined hands with Shantui Group, a leading engineering machinery enterprise, to jointly realize the collaborative operation of engineering machinery based on 5G remote control driving, which can be widely used in rescue and emergency, unmanned operation, integrated construction and other scenarios, helping the traditional machinery industry to transform and upgrade to high-end equipment.

Finally, China Unicom said that the times are the biggest enabler. Entering the new era of 5G+Industrial Internet, China Unicom will continue to shoulder the new historical mission, continue to promote industrial transformation and upgrading and 5G network infrastructure construction, focus on the new needs of industrial digital transformation, actively build a new industrial cooperation ecosystem with all parties, and jointly create a new chapter in the development of China's Industrial Internet.
