New design challenge aims to encourage element14 community members to build robotic motion projects using dedicated development kits
Shanghai, China, May 16, 2024 - Farnell element14, a global distributor of electronic components products and solutions under Avnet, has launched the "Shift It - Warehouse Automation Challenge", which will select 15 engineers and designers to build a project that will help promote warehouse automation.
Selected contestants will use TE Connectivity connectors and Arduino Uno Robotics Shields kits to build robotic motion projects. Contestants are tasked with using four or more TE Connectivity products in their design projects.
e-Neteng community members can design their favorite projects to achieve warehouse automation, including automatic inventory systems, automatic mobile systems, warehouse worker safety systems, automatic attendance systems and electronic inventory systems.
Andreea Teodorescu, Global Director of Product Marketing and Element14 Community, said: “Automation is changing the way tasks are performed in warehouses and factories today and in the future. We are delighted to have this opportunity for our community to experience this first-hand and see the potential of robotics at scale.”
To participate in the challenge, entrants must submit their applications by June 19. Selected entrants who publish at least five blog posts describing their progress and final project by August 28 will have a chance to win prizes such as an Apple 11-inch iPad Pro, an iRobot Roomba Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum Cleaner, and a 10.9-inch iPad Mini. Once entrants complete their competition project and five blog posts, they will receive a completion prize - a MultiComp Pro multimeter set.
Participants will receive extra points during the judging process for making full use of TE Connectivity components, designing interesting sports applications, and adding photos, videos, and code examples to their blog posts.
Applications for the challenge close on June 19, and selected entrants have until August 28 to complete their projects and blog posts. The winner will be announced in September 2024.
