According to Leifeng.com, it was recently reported that Shugen Internet CTO Liu Zhen resigned due to personal reasons. On August 2, the news was officially confirmed.
According to the official announcement: Liu Zhen, co-founder and chief technology officer (CTO) of Shugen Interconnect, resigned from the company's CTO position due to family reasons. The resignation took effect on August 2, 2019. At the same time, the company's board of directors officially announced the appointment of Dr. Huang Sheng as the company's CTO.
Shugen Interconnect was incubated by Sany Heavy Industry in 2016. According to official data, Shugen Interconnect's industrial Internet empowerment platform has connected more than 560,000 industrial equipment. It can provide cloud services based on IIoT and big data to enterprises in various industries, empower 61 industrial segments, and successfully help leading companies in the industry to build 14 industry cloud platforms including the casting industry chain, injection molding industry chain, textile industry chain, etc., and provide in-depth services in equipment after-market services, asset management, energy consumption management, financial leasing, etc.
Since its establishment, Shugen Interconnect has attracted much attention in the industry and has also been favored by the capital market. In June this year, Shugen Interconnect announced the completion of a 500 million yuan round B financing. Shugen Interconnect officials said that this round of financing will continue to focus on platform research and development, continue to expand the layout of China's industrial Internet industry ecology, and continue to increase the research and development and application of artificial intelligence, big data, edge computing and other technologies in the industrial Internet platform. Prior to this, Shugen Interconnect announced a round A financing of 100 million yuan in January 2018.
Liu Zhen previously told Leifeng.com that Shugen Internet was founded in 2016 and was incubated by Sany Heavy Industry. Later, a special team was set up to serve the entire industry independently. It built an industrial Internet platform, the so-called P2P2B, rather than pure P2B. Therefore, Shugen Internet is not doing a very detailed vertical industry work. Their business model is to provide cloud connection and data management for industrial equipment, and then provide value-added services. However, due to the many personalized characteristics of industrial data and large parameter changes, it is very difficult.
For this purpose, Shugen Interconnect provides industrial OS products that connect OT (Operations Technology) and IT (Information Technology), and there are already hundreds of customers on this platform.
Dr. Liu Zhen is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He has made important research achievements in the fields of cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, communication networks, distributed systems and stream processing systems. Dr. Liu Zhen has published more than 200 papers in international journals and conferences, obtained more than 100 US patents for technical inventions and more than 10 European patents for technical inventions, delivered keynote speeches at more than 20 international conferences, served as the chairman and technical agenda chairman of many international academic conferences, and received the Outstanding Service Award from the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) in 2004 and 2008.
In May 2018, Liu Zhen joined Shugen Interactive as co-founder and CTO of Shugen Interactive. Prior to joining Shugen Interactive, Liu Zhen worked at Logitech as the global CTO, dean of Microsoft Asia Engineering Academy, and dean of Nokia Research Institute for Developing Countries. He has more than 20 years of work experience in the fields of Internet, cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
According to Leifeng.com, the new CTO Huang Sheng has been deeply engaged in the research of cloud computing platform PaaS and SaaS services. He once worked at IBM China Research Institute. Under his leadership, the team helped IBM's global Watson Internet of Things Division build the first IBM Internet of Things platform. During his study and work, Dr. Huang Sheng published more than 20 articles in top conferences such as OOPSLA, ICSE, SPLASH, VLDB, SIGMOD, ICWS, MIDDLEWAE, and collected more than 30 patents.
At present, the industrial Internet, as a current focus industry, has been favored by technology, industry, capital and other factors. According to Leifeng.com , although there are continuous billion-level financings for startups in the field of industrial Internet, and the digitalization needs of manufacturing enterprises do exist, the entire industry is still in its early stages. The business models of many companies related to the industrial Internet are not clear enough, and the technical capabilities are difficult to meet the many fragmented needs in the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry. There is also a big bubble in the capital market. The manufacturing industry still has a long way to go before it can truly enter the era of industrial Internet.
