According to foreign media, the new generation of Chromebook products equipped with Rockchip's (hereinafter referred to as Rockchip) RK3288-C processor will be officially released at Google I/O 2015 Google Developer Conference on May 28, San Francisco time, along with Google smart wearables, Android system ecosystem, mobile phones and other new products. This is the first time that a Chinese chip has been used in PC notebook products and has appeared at the Google I/O conference.

1. Boot up within 10 seconds, the fastest PC in the world

The new generation of Chromebooks is equipped with Rockchip RK3288-C processor, which uses ARM A17 architecture, has a maximum main frequency of 1.8GHz, and a GPU of T764, the highest specification quad-core Mali-T760 series of ARM Mali.

According to media tests, the new generation of Chromebooks boots up in just 10 seconds. With a more powerful GPU, the new Chromebooks also increase web browsing speed by 25% compared to the previous generation.

At the system level, the Chrome OS used by Chromebook is faster, has a simple interface, is easy to use and more secure.

Compared with Windows, which has a very complex system startup speed caused by the loading of drivers, system services, etc., Google ChromeOS has more advantages. This operating system is the fastest and most compact operating system currently. It only takes a few seconds to start the PC and connect to the Internet. It is designed for the "Internet". In Chrome OS, most applications are completed on the Web, which is not only fast, but also has no operational threshold. You can fully get started without learning the system tasks.

ChromeOS also has advantages in security that Windows cannot match. Because it is based on Web and cloud applications, Chrome OS users do not have to worry about annoying things such as viruses, malware, Trojans, security updates, etc. At the same time, RK3288-C hardware has digital protection standard features. The core technology is to encrypt and decrypt digital content, and it can provide hardware encryption and decryption methods to improve the security level .

In response to needs such as secure payment and digital rights management (DRM) , RK3288 -C is also designed based on the ARM trustzone hardware security system, using a local secure OS to improve the security level of the platform . In addition, RK3288 -C also supports a variety of security solutions, such as HDCP2.2, PlayReady, and Widevine level-1 .

2. Lower power consumption and 13 hours of battery life

RK3288-C not only brings a faster experience to the new Chromebook, but also controls the power consumption of the whole machine to less than 2.9 watts per hour, which is 45% lower than the previous generation of Chromebook. Test data shows that the battery life can be up to 13 hours.

Chen Feng, Global Vice President of Rockchip, said: "The PC boots up within 10 seconds, making it the fastest PC in the world. At the same time, the RK3288-C processor uses multiple power management and optimization technologies, including DDR frequency conversion regulation technology, which can save 10% to 15% of power consumption when running multiple tasks."

3. The new Chromebook industry chain has a strong lineup

As early as April this year, many notebook computer brands have successively released their new generation of Chromebooks equipped with RK3288-C processors, including ASUS Chromebook Flip, C201, Hisense C11, Haier 11 and 11e, etc. In mid-May, local Indian manufacturers Xolo and Nexian also launched new Chromebooks using Rockchip RK3288-C processors. With the addition of notebook brands such as Acer, Samsung, Lenovo, and Toshiba, the new Chromebook army has a strong lineup.

Chromebook shipments will surge in the second quarter of this year. Forecast data shows that Chromebook global sales will exceed 10 million units this year. It is expected that the new generation of Chromebooks based on Rockchip RK3288-C processors will account for 70% of sales.
