Leifeng.com learned that Google Cloud China has undergone an important personnel change today. Former Weimob COO Yin Shiming will officially replace Li Kongyuan as the president of Google Cloud Greater China. This is the first senior management change of Google Cloud China in nearly six years.
According to Leifeng.com, Yin Shiming graduated from Huazhong University of Science and Technology with a master's degree in engineering in May 1997, and then joined Procter & Gamble (China) and United Andersen Consulting Company. In April 2000, Yin Shiming officially joined SAP Shanghai and began his nearly 14-year SAP career, rising from pre-sales consultant to assistant to the president of SAP global sales and senior vice president of SAP.
In February 2014, Yin Shiming joined Apple and served as general manager of the Greater China Channel Enterprise Department and head of the Ecosystem Department.
In November 2016, he joined Baidu as Vice President of Baidu and General Manager of Baidu Cloud Business Unit, focusing on the management of Baidu Cloud in the fields of enterprise software and services.
In January 2020, Baidu adjusted its structure, and the Baidu Cloud Division became a business group, and eventually became part of Baidu's AI system. In March, Yin Shiming resigned from his original position and joined Weimob in September of that year as the group's chief operating officer.
Looking at Yin Shiming's resume, it is not difficult to find that his career has been related to sales for a long time, and he has many years of experience in enterprise services. This may be one of the reasons why he was selected by Google Cloud.
Coincidentally, Chu Ruisong, head of AWS China, another foreign cloud giant, also worked at SAP and Baidu and had similar company experience as Yin Shiming, but the two had different job functions: the former focused on technology, while the latter focused on sales.
