On January 12, 2017, WPG Holdings, a leading semiconductor component distributor dedicated to the Asia-Pacific market , announced that its subsidiary Pinjia launched a VR application solution based on the PIC32MZ series MCU of Microchip Technology Company of the United States .

Microchip PIC32MZ 32-bit MCUs offer best-in-class performance with 28 Msps ADC throughput and 30% optimized code density. They also feature up to 2 MB dual-partition flash memory and 512 KB RAM that can be field upgraded .

The series supports a wide range of advanced connectivity features with high-speed USB, 10/100 Ethernet and two CAN 2.0b modules, as well as multiple UART, SPI/I²S™ and I²C™ channels. The optional on-chip cryptographic engine ensures secure communications with a random number generator, high-throughput data encryption/decryption engine and authentication.

Based on the PIC32MZ Embedded Connectivity (EC) 32-bit MCU series with first-class performance and code density as well as more advanced on-chip memory and peripheral integration, WPG applies it in VR systems to detect displacement, angle, distance and other information in game interactions.
