According to Reuters, people familiar with the matter revealed that EU countries and EU lawmakers will meet on June 7 to discuss the details of the universal charging interface for mobile phones, tablets and headphones, and may reach an agreement.
The European Commission first proposed a single mobile charging port more than a decade ago, drawing strong criticism from Apple, whose iPhones use a Lightning port for charging, unlike Android devices that use a USB-C port for charging.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted in May this year that Apple would consider switching the iPhone 15 series from the Lightning port to the USB-C port in 2023.
Later, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg confirmed the rumor and said that people familiar with the matter revealed that Apple is already testing a new phone. In addition, some comments said that Apple is testing an iPhone with a Type-C interface because it is currently facing EU legislation to force the use of a USB-C interface.
