According to Cailianshe, in the first quarter of this year, Korean companies' equipment investment in chip production reached the highest level in the world, with a total of 30% of chip manufacturing equipment sold to South Korea.

Data shows that in the first quarter of this year, global sales of semiconductor chip manufacturing equipment reached $23.57 billion, up 51% year-on-year. Among them, Korean companies purchased $7.31 billion, accounting for 31% of the total sales, a year-on-year increase of 118%.

It is understood that the main driving force behind South Korea's substantial increase in investment in semiconductor manufacturing equipment comes from the expansion of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix: Samsung Electronics is seeking to expand its chip foundry business and is building its third factory in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province; SK Hynix is building a new M16 factory in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province.
