According to Apple's plan, they will release the official version of iOS 14.5 this month, and the testing of the new system has entered the final stage.
It is reported that in the iOS and iPadOS 14.5 beta versions, the updated section in the "Location Services" menu in Apple's privacy settings points out that Apple will collect user data, such as when a specific app is opened near a point of interest, Apple will collect this data to determine the crowdedness of the location and whether the specific business is open.
This means that if a user opens an app for a specific business or service near a relevant point of interest on Apple Maps, Apple may aggregate this data to potentially inform other users how crowded the location is and whether the business/service is operating. It is worth noting that Apple said that anonymous and encrypted data from users will only be collected when the "Routing and Traffic" setting is turned on in "Location Services -> System Services".
In addition, Apple has quietly changed the way code runs on the iOS 14.5 Beta test version, and more details are expected to be disclosed in the next public push.
Apple added Pointer Authentication Codes (PAC) to iOS to protect users from attacks that inject malicious code through memory corruption. Before calling, the system will verify the so-called ISA pointer, which is a security feature that tells iOS programs what code to run.
Some developers also said that in iOS 14.5, Apple will allow users to change more default settings, which will be more open than before.
