Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives said in a note to AppleInsider investors that from a supply chain perspective, user demand for the iPhone 12 series has exceeded even the most optimistic expectations. The only comparable model is the iPhone 6 in 2014.

"In recent days, our TMT team has conducted relevant research on the iPhone supply chain in Asia. Based on the current demand for iPhone 12 5G, we are increasingly optimistic about the trend of iPhone market, which now even exceeds the (previously expected) 'bull market scenario' for fiscal year 21."

IT Home learned that Apple’s current sales record is 232.2 million iPhones set by iPhone 6 in 2015.

According to his survey, the supply chain expects total iPhone shipments to reach 95 million units in the December quarter... If this trend continues during the (Christmas) holiday season, Ives expects Apple's shipments to "exceed 240 million units" in 2021, an increase of about 35% compared to Wedbush and Wall Street forecasts.

The analyst bluntly stated that Apple's maximum iPhone shipments next year may reach about 250 million units. The iPhone 12 super cycle will be a significant positive for Apple's stock in the coming months.

In addition, he also believes that all iPhone models released by Apple in 2021 are expected to be equipped with LiDAR sensors.

The i analyst also reiterated their view of an iPhone “super cycle” (about 350 million of the 950 million iPhones sold worldwide are in the replacement period). Given the strong demand and strength of the Chinese market, Ives believes that Apple’s current trajectory means an “unprecedented upgrade cycle.”

Based on this, Apple’s stock price closed up 0.89% yesterday, with a market value of over 2.19 trillion.
