On the morning of September 29, it was reported that this year's new iPhone may be launched in South Korea earlier than in previous years. The Korea Herald believes that Apple may hope to attract more 5G users here.
South Korea is usually not the first country to release the iPhone. The new iPhone will only be sold here about 3-4 weeks after it is launched in the United States. However, a report in The Korea Herald believes that this year Apple may give priority to the country because the 5G construction here is more complete.
Apple is expected to start selling its new iPhone 12 series in South Korea earlier than originally planned, as the U.S. tech giant looks to attract more 5G users here, sources said on Monday. Officials at local telecom operators said they are preparing to start selling the iPhone 12 in late October or early November.
Although Apple has not yet confirmed the release date of its latest smartphone, many institutions and individuals have predicted that the iPhone 12 may be released on October 13 and will be first sold in some markets on October 23.
Typically, Apple starts promoting its new phones in South Korea about a month after they go on sale in the first countries. For example, the iPhone 11 series went on sale in the United States and other countries on September 20 last year, and in South Korea on October 25 last year.
South Korea is home to Samsung, one of Apple's biggest competitors. Samsung has a 67% market share in South Korea, and Apple ranks second with 19%. But this year's sales are earlier than in previous years, and the main reason may be that Apple will want to make full use of South Korea's 5G network to promote the sales of its own products. Therefore, countries with good 5G infrastructure seem to be given priority for sales this year.
At present, we still don’t know the specific details of iPhone support for 5G. For example, whether it uses millimeter wave or some other standard. What is relatively certain is that there will be four iPhone 12 products this year, named:
iPhone 12 mini: 5.4-inch screen
iPhone 12: 6.1-inch screen
iPhone 12 Pro: 6.1-inch screen
iPhone 12 Pro Max: 6.7-inch screen
