Apple released a new iPhone privacy ad last night - Over Sharing, which depicts people embarrassingly sharing their personal information, such as credit card numbers, login details and web browsing history, with strangers.
In the ads, a man shouts on a packed bus that he has visited eight divorce lawyers' websites; a woman flippantly gives her login information to strangers at a movie theater; two coworkers loudly engage in an obscene conversation in front of other coworkers nearby; and a woman uses a megaphone to broadcast her credit card information to anyone within earshot.
“Some things shouldn’t be shared,” Apple said. “That’s why iPhone is designed to help you control your information and protect your privacy.”
Apple has repeatedly said it considers privacy a "fundamental human right" and one of the company's "core values." At last year's CES electronics show in Las Vegas, Apple stepped up its commitment to privacy with a billboard near the convention center that read "What happens on your iPhone stays on your iPhone."
