The Swiss newspaper Federal reported on the 22nd that thousands of Swiss people demonstrated in the capital Bern on the 21st to protest against the "forced radiation" of the 5G network and demanded a suspension of the 5G network construction.

The Swiss News Agency said on the 22nd that these people gathered in front of the Swiss Parliament building, holding placards such as "5G violates human rights", "5G poses risks to health, environment, democracy and security", "Always faster, higher, at the expense of humanity and the environment - Stop 5G". They also accused the authorities and the telecommunications industry of putting economic interests first and boldly lying to the public.

The protest was initiated by the Swiss environmental and consumer organization Frequencia. The organization's chairman, Woolman, said: "The fact that so many people gathered today is a strong signal against the uncontrolled construction of 5G." In May this year, the organization organized a rally. The Swiss Doctors' Federation also advocated that the new 5G technology should be treated with caution. Some people also launched an online petition with the goal of collecting 100,000 signatures to force the government to hold a referendum to let the public decide whether to suspend 5G construction.

Switzerland is one of the first countries and regions in the world to introduce 5G. As of July 2019, Switzerland has put 334 5G transmission stations into operation. However, according to the Swiss "Sunday Weekly", one-third of Switzerland's 5G antennas are currently suspended due to objections. Due to public opposition, several Swiss cantons, including Geneva, Vaud, and Fribourg, have postponed the construction of 5G facilities.

Coincidentally, according to a report by Computerworld Australia in July, "anti-5G" demonstrations took place in Melbourne, Perth, Blue Mountains, Mullumbimby and other places in Australia. There were hundreds of demonstrators in Mullumbimby and dozens in other areas. In addition, they also attracted thousands of members in the "anti-5G" groups on social media.

In response to the current concerns of Western society about 5G, The New York Times published an article in May pointing out that the Russian government used the media to spread lies about 5G in order to use public pressure to slow down the West's use of 5G technology.

Industry experts said that base stations are divided into macro base stations and micro base stations. The large base stations with plate-shaped antennas seen outdoors are macro base stations. Under normal circumstances, the power of a macro base station is 40 watts. At a distance of 10 meters from the base station, the radiation is about 3.18 microwatts per square centimeter, which is very, very small.
