In 2010, the industrial control memory manufacturer Innodisk launched a series of wide temperature memory iDIMMs that support professional industrial control computer designs. iDIMMs can provide the system with higher quality signals, more stable system performance, and lower risk of system crashes than standard memory.
In recent years, memory modules have been widely used in computer systems for special applications, not only in traditional medical, network communication, military and other fields, but also in the automotive industry. Industrial computers play a core role in automation systems in these fields, including logic operations, data transmission, motion control, etc.
The standard memory modules used in most industrial control systems are often reported to be unstable in high or low temperature environments due to the non-linearity between the frequency accuracy of the quartz oscillator (Silicon Dioxide SiO2) and the temperature. However, Innodisk iDIMM wide temperature memory modules have unique high-quality signal output, which can effectively help the CPU reduce the risk of data flow interruption caused by buffer overrun or buffer under-run. Innodisk iDIMM, which is produced through strict quality requirements, is not only the first to plate up to 30um gold fingers on the module, but also uses industrial-grade passive components, plus special ESD and dust and fog resistance manufacturing processes and rigorous tests that simulate various types of environments, etc. (Table 1). All of these will make the system more stable.
In recent years, Taiwan has become a major exporter of industrial computers, with output and technology comparable to those of foreign manufacturers. However, most industrial control systems are designed based on the x86 PC architecture and are used in general industrial systems with wide temperature SDR/DDR/
DDR2 memory modules. In response to the future, DDR3 memory modules that can work in high temperature, high humidity or extremely low temperature environments are very rare. Now Innodisk International is the first to launch DDR3 memory modules on the market that have both wide temperature tolerance and high-quality signals, and can provide related memory modules with thermal temperature sensing functions according to customers with different attributes.
Innodisk's full range of wide temperature iDIMMs have been certified by several major industrial computer manufacturers, such as Advantech, ADLINK, Vivitar, etc. The full range of SDR/DDR/DDR2/DDR3 iDIMMs has undoubtedly become the best wide temperature memory solution in the industrial computer industry.
