ASML CEO: It is impossible for Chinese manufacturers to produce advanced lithography machines of 7nm and below

On August 21, according to foreign media reports, ASML CEO Christophe Fouquet said in an interview that the world needs "traditional chips" produced in China, which will help fill the supply and demand gap in Europe.

"It makes no sense to stop others from producing what they need. With Russian gas, people understand that alternatives must be found, but not with chips," the CEO said.

ASML's CEO believes that China, which is still a decade behind the United States in semiconductor technology, still has a long way to go, but it does give it a slight advantage given its proficiency in older processes.

According to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SEMI), Chinese chip manufacturers' production capacity will increase by 14% by 2025, more than twice that of the rest of the world, reaching 10.1 million wafers per month by 2025, accounting for about one-third of the global total output.

When asked whether China could recreate EUV lithography equipment, ASML said it was far from possible given the complexity of the development process.
