Accelerate product development with seamless data exchange between Keysight’s Advanced Design System (ADS) and Siemens’ Xpedition environment
Keysight Technologies has announced a collaboration with Siemens EDA to accelerate the design of wireless and defense communication systems. The combination of Keysight's Advanced Design System (ADS) and Xpedition Enterprise in the Siemens EDA tool suite will enable engineers to perform PCB layout and manufacturing preparation in the Xpedition environment, as well as perform radio frequency (RF) circuit and electromagnetic simulation in Keysight ADS, allowing digital system and RF circuit design engineers to work together more efficiently.
Today’s complex wireless and defense communication system designs require unprecedented levels of integration between RF and overall system design. These advanced solutions typically integrate complex RF components, high-speed digital circuits, and complex signal processing, all of which must work together to meet design requirements.
Keysight and Siemens EDA have previously achieved dynamic integration between tools, which enables bidirectional integration between system design and RF and microwave engineering tools. On this basis, Keysight and Siemens EDA have further deepened their cooperation by implementing bidirectional integration between Keysight ADS and Siemens EDA's Xpedition Designer and Xpedition Layout software to complete hierarchical design, thus avoiding the tedious and error-prone task of manually switching databases between different tools.
Engineers can now seamlessly migrate between RF design in ADS and system-level design in the Xpedition environment, maintaining integrity throughout the development process. This is critical for optimizing the performance of applications such as 5G/6G communications and advanced radar systems, where coordination between the RF and digital domains is key to determining system performance.
The new products will be available in Keysight Advanced Design System 2025 software and Siemens Xpedition Enterprise 2409 version software.
"Keysight and Siemens have a long-standing relationship to support our customers in their next-generation wireless designs," said Nilesh Kamdar, head of EDA Design and Verification at Keysight Technologies . "This bidirectional integration helps engineers optimize performance for a variety of applications, including 5G/6G and radar systems."
“As engineering teams continue to drive digital transformation, the digital thread between RF and electronic system design becomes increasingly important,” said AJ Incorvaia, senior vice president of Electronic Board Systems at Siemens Digital Industries Software . “We are pleased to announce that this higher level of integration enables concurrent design, helping engineers complete designs faster while optimizing system performance and quality.”
