In recent years, the motor drive market has experienced extensive and rapid growth. Whether in the industrial field, consumer field or the emerging new energy vehicle field, motor drives are getting more applications. The rapidly growing motor drive market has also put forward higher requirements for electronic design and chip performance, such as high reliability, more comprehensive protection and diagnostic functions, intelligence, flexibility, etc.
MPS has accumulated more than ten years of technology in the field of motor drives and has many applications and customer groups in the industry. As the market and technology continue to evolve, MPS's chip design is also constantly iterating and improving performance to better serve the market and customers. The core technologies of MPS motor drives include but are not limited to:
In the future, MPS will further improve its core competitiveness on the one hand, and at the same time further increase investment and product layout in the field of automotive electronics and motor MCU.
In terms of automotive electronics, today's new energy vehicle industry is developing rapidly, and integration and intelligence have become the general trend. Automobile manufacturers and suppliers require the design of auto parts to become more integrated and smarter in order to bring better quality to consumers. Good product cost performance and user experience.
The emergence of Domain Controller (DCU ) breaks the traditional way of thinking. Instead of focusing on specific functions, DCU aims at integration, functional diversification, and direct connection with motor drives. DCU is also notable because it directs automotive suppliers to focus R&D funds on a single subsystem rather than more than a dozen different sub-devices. To implement such complex and powerful DCUs, automotive suppliers no longer rely solely on most existing off-the-shelf ICs, but prefer carefully designed integrated devices and more motor execution components. Distributed motor execution components can bring many advantages, including fewer wire harnesses, reduced weight and size, a good balance between power consumption and EMC performance, and better cost performance. Therefore, motor execution components are more widely used in domain controllers, such as:

In addition to domain controllers, MPS motor drives can be applied to multiple automotive systems, including but not limited to:
Facing the ever-changing automobile market, MPS's full range of motor drive products can help automobile manufacturers better realize DCU and motor functions. In addition to considering the "killer feature" for specific products, MPS will also unify product development routes and main control chips. Ecosystem, carefully designing products to have higher security, scalability and reliability.
In terms of body control, MPS's 8-channel PWM automotive-grade driver MPQ662x series has a 6V-40V input voltage and a 64mA gate drive current. It can drive 4 brush motors at the same time and is very integrated. In addition, it also provides an SPI series control interface, and its Charge pump can be used to implement external N-MOS anti-reverse battery protection and high-end gate drive to support 100% duty cycle, and the 8-channel PWM can greatly simplify the user's design.

Automotive-grade full-bridge motor driver MPQ661x, with 2.7V-36V input voltage, 8A continuous output current, internal full H-bridge driver can support 100% duty cycle, MOSFET on-resistance: HS+LS= 40mΩ, multiple MODEs available Select, such as input PWM/DIR, IN1/IN2, independent-PWM, parallel and other setting modes, compatible with 3.3V and 5V logic power supplies.

For internal electrical control, MPS has launched a 36V/0.5A stepper motor driver, a 36V/2.5A three-phase motor driver and a 35V/1A three-phase non-inductive BLDC motor driver. Among them, the stepper motor driver integrates 2 internal full-bridge drivers with a simple logic interface and is compatible with 3.3V and 5V logic power supplies. The stepper mode includes full steps to 32 steps. The three-phase motor driver integrates three full-bridge drivers. The internal Charge Pump supports 100% duty cycle operation, can automatically synchronously rectify, and has PWM & enable input.

MPS does not just stay in the field of analog chips, but is also gradually expanding into the field of digital-analog hybrids. In particular, the product layout of motor MCU will further strengthen MPS's overall layout in the motor drive and automotive electronics markets. MPS's motor MCU products will cover three series:
Motor MCU
MCU integrated with three-phase pre-driver
MCU integrated with three-phase drive and Mosfet
The above products integrate motor control calculations and can consider all safety-related fault conditions. They can be flexibly upgraded and downgraded to quickly develop designs for different levels of motor forms. And based on MPS's technical accumulation in power supply design and technology, this series of MCUs can support larger continuous currents and are suitable for a wider range of applications.

In the rapidly developing automotive electronics market, MPS's motor drive layout is extensive and has unique advantages, which can help customers successfully and quickly develop safe, scalable and reliable solutions. As a leading global semiconductor supplier, MPS relies on keen insight and rich experience to meet the stringent requirements of automotive customers. Our in-house process technology continues to be ahead of our competitors, and has now expanded from power products to the motor drive field. Automotive applications have also expanded from IC to the entire application field.
