Murata is expanding silicon capacitor production line
Information
NEWS
Murata is building a new 200mm mass production line in Caen, France, to expand silicon capacitor productivity.
The new production line will be based on 200mm wafers and focus on PICS (Passive Integration Connective Substrate) leading technology, which has higher performance in terms of electrical characteristics. These products are ultra-small, with thicknesses as low as 40µm, and are targeted at the mobile phone market with ultra-high performance and capacitance values.
Franck MURRAY, General Manager of Murata Integrated Passive Solutions (Caen, France) said:
Murata's silicon capacitor technology is gaining traction and experiencing significant growth outside of demanding niche markets. Mobile phone architectures as well as new electric vehicle systems require increasingly lower parasitic capacitance and very high frequency and temperature performance. These new applications also have challenging requirements in terms of space and volume.
