From November 26 to November 27, 2020, the 5th Developer Conference hosted by Rockchip Electronics Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Rockchip") was held at the Sheraton Hotel in Fuzhou. With the theme of "Renewing the Core, Respecting the Future" , this Developer Conference released ten new chip solutions on site, and displayed more than 100 terminal products equipped with Rockchip solutions, covering a wide range of industries in four major directions: industry applications, consumer electronics, smart security, and industry development boards. The main forum attracted many experts to build a new window for the chip industry

Focusing on the core theme of "chip industry", the guests at the meeting actively discussed innovative ideas and development measures, expressed their opinions, and jointly made plans for the development of the industry. Lin Zhengyuan, Vice President of Rockchip, gave an opening speech with the theme of "Entering the Chip Industry, Smart Chip Vision", and introduced Rockchip's key product layout and new generation solutions, and grandly launched a number of blockbuster chips such as RK3588, RK3568, RK3566, and RK2108 .

Mr. Gao Qiquan, Chairman of Luyi Semiconductor, Mr. Jia Lei, Chief Architect of Baidu Voice, and Professor Zhou Ligong, Chairman of Guangzhou Zhiyuan Electronics, delivered wonderful speeches on the topics of "Future Opportunities and Challenges of the Semiconductor Supply Chain", "The Latest Progress of Baidu Voice Technology", and "Future-oriented Embedded Software Development Platform" respectively.

Li Min, Chairman and CEO of Rockchip, gave a concluding speech with the theme of "The Decade of New Hardware and the Development Direction of Rockchip". He explained in simple terms that as digital technology has fully entered various fields of production, manufacturing, cities, families, and social life, it has brought about the inevitable trend of new hardware development that integrates hardware, systems, content, AI algorithms, and cloud services. He also discussed with partners in the industry chain how to focus on the new value of hardware, and made it clear that Rockchip will continue to provide customers with multi-scenario computing unit SoCs and remain determined to make good products.

Ten new solutions, RK3588 new generation flagship chip released

One of the highlights of the conference is the chip solution technology exhibition area - new product exhibition area, smart security exhibition area, consumer electronics exhibition area, industry application exhibition area and Rockchip's self-developed development board and partner industrial control board collection exhibition area.

In the new product exhibition area, Rockchip released ten new products, including RK3588, RK3568, RK3566, RK2108, RK628D, RK625, as well as a new structured light family, fast charging chip family, wireless network communication chip family, and vision chips. A number of new products and new solutions made their collective debut.

RK3588 is a new generation flagship high-end processor launched by Rockchip. It adopts 8nm process design, has an octa-core CPU of quad-core A76 + quad-core A55 and a new generation of Mali quad-core GPU, and has a built-in NPU with 6T computing power. It has powerful visual processing capabilities and can support a variety of fast face unlocking solutions such as structured light and TOF; supports a variety of display interfaces and up to 8K display processing capabilities; has strong scalability, supports high-speed interfaces such as PCIE3.0, SATA3.0, dual TypeC/USB3.1, and can be used for AI computing power, image data processing and other expansions. It is used in ARM PCs, high-end tablets, edge computing servers, virtual reality, NVRs, 8K TVs and other directions.

RK3566 and RK3568 use the third-generation AI processor, quad-core Cortex-A55, G52 GPU, and built-in 0.8T NPU. RK3566 has a high-performance CPU and GPU, with powerful multimedia processing capabilities, and can be applied to tablets, OTT boxes, smart speakers, e-books, and single-screen POS machines. RK3568 has full-link ECC, security-level ISP, three-screen display and other features, and can be applied to smart NVR, cloud terminals, IoT gateways, industrial control, facial recognition gates, NAS and other directions.

RV1126 and RV1109 are Rockchip's new intelligent vision SoCs, with built-in second-generation independent NPUs and further improved performance. RV1126 has built-in 2T NPU computing power and supports 4K H.264/H.265 video encoding and decoding, while RV1109 can provide 1.2T computing power and support 5 million H.264/H.265 video encoding and decoding. Both can be used in smart security, gates, access control, network cameras and other application fields.

RK2108 is a high-performance, low-power MCU chip that can be used in smart wearable products and smart voice products. It has technical features such as M4F 400MHz, HIFI3 DSP 600MHz, deep standby 0 power consumption, MIPI high-speed display interface and high-resolution smooth UI display.

Four major application exhibition areas empower various industries

In the four major application exhibition areas: the smart security exhibition area showcases the latest generation of ISP technology, encoder technology, AI processors and a series of security terminal products; the consumer electronics exhibition area showcases Rockchip's various technical advantages in smart screen solutions. It is aimed at tablet products, streaming media application products, smart screen camera modules, smart sweepers, smart voice products and other fields; in the industry application exhibition area, Rockchip uses industry application chips as a driver to empower all industries. With the platform advantages of AIoT processors, multimedia, visual/voice processing, display and expansion and connection capabilities, there are many mature cases in commercial display, smart retail, industrial control, security, gates, cloud terminals, servers, smart homes and other fields; the development board collection exhibition area showcases the strength of Rockchip's self-developed development boards. More than 100 industry motherboards and development kits equipped with Rockchip RK3399Pro, RK3288, RK3399 and other chips are exhibited, which can be applied to edge computing, commercial display, security, industrial control, education, new retail, Internet of Things, etc. Adapting to different systems, rich peripheral interfaces, friendly development environment, etc., it has attracted much attention from developers.
