[Solution News] Safer and more effective! Dalian vigorously promotes 120W TV power supply solution based on Infineon technology and products
On June 14, 2016, WPG Holdings, a leading semiconductor component distributor dedicated to the Asia-Pacific market , announced that its subsidiary Pinjia has launched a 120W TV power supply solution based on Infineon's digital PFC-LLC combination controller IDP2302. IDP2302 is Infineon's second-generation digital power controller, SO-16 package, integrating PFC+LLC controller, high-voltage startup unit, and high-voltage side driver, dedicated to switch mode power supply applications in TV power supply systems.

Infineon's IDP2302, which is strongly promoted by GLP-Pinjia, is a highly integrated multi-mode power factor correction (PFC) and half-bridge LLC (HB LLC) controller. The multi-mode operation of the PFC controller and the zero-voltage switching of the LLC MOSFET can significantly improve the power conversion efficiency, especially the light-load efficiency, while the integrated high-voltage start-up battery, PFC converter regulator, MOSFET driver and internal communication between the PFC and LLC controllers can minimize system costs. The need for auxiliary power can be avoided by integrating a high-voltage start-up battery and advanced burst mode control. Low standby power consumption during burst mode can be achieved with the help of active X-CAP discharge function. At the same time, the built-in comprehensive protection function can significantly improve the safety of system operation. Up to 40 different parameters ensure flexibility during system design to achieve the highest performance. All these features make the IDP2302 a highly competitive AC/DC controller for PFC-HB LLC resonant converters on the market.

The 120W TV power supply reference design launched by GDPI uses DPAK power MOSFET. For LEDTV, slim SMPS board is a hope, but also a challenge due to the restrictions on active and passive components. Compared with Fullpak MOSFET used in traditional TV SMPS design, the advantage of DPAK MOSFET lies in the thickness of components and the simplicity of packaging process. In this reference design, two IPD50R280CE in parallel are used in the FPC stage, and 2 IPD50R1K4CE are used in the LLC stage.
