The 28th annual ACM International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM) will be held in Beijing , China, from November 3rd to 7th this year .

Since its establishment in 1992, CIKM has been committed to bringing together researchers and developers in these three related fields to achieve in-depth cross-field cooperation and exchanges. This year, CIKM takes " Artificial Intelligence for Future Life " as its theme, focusing on the technologies and insights of the future vision of big data and artificial intelligence.

A highlight of this year's five-day CIKM conference was the invitation of several heavyweight guests in the field of machine learning and data mining to deliver keynote speeches, including Han Jiawei, a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), a leader in the field of data mining, and a professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; Pei Jian , a fellow of IEEE and ACM, chairman of ACM SIGKDD, and a university professor at Simon Fraser ; Stephen John Maybank, a member of the European Academy of Sciences, a fellow of IEEE, and a professor in the Department of Computer Science at Birkbeck, University of London ; and Shi Jianping , research director of SenseTime Technology .

Stephen John Maybank is a member of the European Academy of Sciences, the IEEE, the IMA (Institute of Mathematics and its Applications), and the Royal Statistical Society. He has won the Koenderink Award (Classic Paper Award) at the European Machine Vision Conference, has published more than 100 academic papers in international authoritative journals, and is also the honorary editor of the International Journal of Computer Vision, a top international machine vision journal.

Professor Maybank mainly studies computer vision, image analysis and other fields. On the second day of the conference, which is also the first day of the main conference, Professor Maybank will give a keynote speech on "Fisher-Rao Metric in Computer Vision".

Pei Jian is a fellow of ACM and IEEE, and the current chairman of ACM SIGKDD. He has won the ACM SIGKDD Innovation Award, the highest award for technical achievement in the field of data science, and the IEEE ICDM Research Contribution Award.

Pei Jian has also served as Chief Scientist of Huawei and Vice President of JD.com. Pei Jian is also a Canada Level 1 Research Chair Professor, Professor of the School of Computing Science at Simon Fraser University, Canada, and Adjunct Professor of the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science and the School of Health Sciences.

His research areas are mainly focused on data science, big data, data mining and database systems. He is good at designing and developing innovative data business products and efficient data analysis technologies for data-intensive applications. Professor Pei Jian will deliver a keynote speech on the third day of the conference on "The Art of Practicing Data Science".

He has published more than 600 papers in the fields of data mining, databases, and information networks.

He has won the 2004 ACM SIGKDD Innovation Award, the 2005 IEEE Computer Society Technical Achievement Award, the 2009 IEEE Computer Society Wallace McDowell Award, etc. Professor Han Jiawei will deliver a keynote speech on the fourth day of the conference on "From Unstructured Text to TextCube: Automated Construction and Multidimensional Exploration".

Jianping Shi, PhD of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, is the world champion of the scene parsing project in the 2016 ImageNet competition. Last year, she was selected as one of the 35 Innovators Under 35 in China in 2018 by MIT Technology Review. Dr. Jianping Shi will deliver a keynote speech on "Autonomous Driving Towards Mass Production" on the last day of the conference.

Conference Agenda: Seven Sessions & E-commerce AI Challenge

This year's CIKM conference schedule includes a tutorial on November 3, a main conference on November 4-6, and industry talks and workshops on November 7. The organizers have set up seven sessions, including 41 long paper report sessions, 18 short paper report sessions, seven application paper report sessions, ten workshops, six tutorials, three hands-on tutorials, and more than ten industry keynote speeches.

November 3 : Tutorial Day. Contains 8 special tutorials, covering knowledge graphs, social networks, recommendation systems, database systems, graph representation learning, heterogeneous information networks, etc.

November 4 : Main Conference. Contains 15 research papers and long reports, covering network embedding, network science, knowledge graph, privacy protection and other fields. There will be wonderful poster presentations, system demonstrations and reception banquets in the evening.

November 5 : Main Conference. It includes 15 research papers and long reports, covering algorithm theory, bioinformatics, database systems, deep learning, natural language processing and other fields. At the same time, the AnalytiCup Challenge Workshop will be held. In the evening, a conference dinner will be held and the awards will be announced.

November 6 : Main Conference. Contains more than 20 research papers, short papers and applied research papers, covering machine learning, computer vision, e-commerce, information retrieval, advertising and other fields. There will be a poster presentation session in the evening.

November 7 : Seminars and Industry Invited Reports. This event includes 10 seminars covering the fields of intelligent transportation, academic big data, recommendation systems, bioinformatics, etc. At the same time, more than 10 exciting industry invited reports will be presented.

In addition to the above, CIKM also co-organized the " AnalytiCup : Alibaba E-commerce AI Challenge " with Alibaba. The challenge is divided into two directions: user behavior diversity prediction and efficient user interest retrieval. The first place in the two challenges will receive a reward of US$10,000 each.

Chinese scholars hold up half the sky: Zhu Wenwu, Tao Dacheng, and Cheng Xueqi serve as conference chairmen

Since CIKM is held in China this year, and Chinese scholars have made outstanding contributions in the fields of information extraction, knowledge management and database, most of the important positions on the organizing committee of this year's conference are held by Chinese scholars.

The presidents of this CIKM conference are Professor Zhu Wenwu from Tsinghua University in China and Professor Dacheng Tao from the University of Sydney in Australia.

Zhu Wenwu is currently the deputy director of the Department of Computer Science at Tsinghua University, the deputy director of the National Research Center for Information Science and Technology, the deputy director of the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data Algorithms and Analysis, the deputy director of the Tsinghua University Big Data Research Center, the chief scientist of the National 973 Project, and the person in charge of major projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

Zhu Wenwu is also a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAAS), the IEEE, and the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE), and was elected a member of the European Academy of Sciences in 2018.

Tao Dacheng is an internationally renowned scholar in the field of artificial intelligence and information science, a winner of the Australian Eureka Award, director of the UBTECH Sydney University Artificial Intelligence Center, a fellow of AAAS and IEEE, and was elected a fellow of the Australian Academy of Science in 2018.

Cheng Xueqi is currently the deputy director, researcher, doctoral supervisor of the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, director of the Key Laboratory of Network Data Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and secretary-general of the CCF Big Data Expert Committee. He was a visiting scholar at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, and a senior visiting scholar at Imperial College London. He was a management expert of the National 242 Information Security Special Program, a director of the Chinese Information Processing Society, and deputy director of the Information Retrieval and Content Security Committee.
