Industrial 4G routers have multiple ports. Here are some precautions for configuring their synchronous serial ports and Ethernet ports.

(1) Industrial 4G router port IP address configuration. Each port can be configured with one IP address or multiple IP addresses.

(2) Industrial 4G router encapsulation protocol. The Ethernet port in the switch encapsulates the Ethernet protocol and does not require explicit configuration; the WAN synchronous serial port encapsulates the HDSL protocol by default and does not require explicit configuration. However, if you want to use other protocols, you need to re-encapsulate.

(3) Configure the synchronous clock on the DCE port of the industrial 3G router. For point-to-point WAN connections, the device at one end of the DCE cable needs to provide a synchronous clock. In a laboratory environment, a DTE cable and a DCE cable are often directly connected to simulate a WAN connection, and a router is connected at both ends. The router connected to one end of the DCE cable is used as a DCE device, and the clock frequency needs to be configured on the connected port. Otherwise, the WAN ports and protocols connected to the two routers cannot be enabled.
To configure the clock frequency, use the following command in port configuration mode:

(4) Configure sub-interfaces. When configuring the sub-interface of the WAN interface, you need to specify whether the sub-interface is a point-to-point or point-to-multipoint connection.

(5) Enable the interface. The interface of the industrial-grade 3G router must be enabled with a command. In the interface (or sub-interface) configuration mode, use the command no shtdown to enable the corresponding interface. After the physical interface is enabled, the sub-interface on it can be enabled.
