This year's Nobel Prize was awarded to AI as a result of the pressure the Nobel Committee felt to acknowledge the impact of deep learning.

But the physics prize was awarded to Hinton and Hopefield, whose winning results, Boltzmann machines and Hopefield networks , are now completely useless .
