The 128-bit ConnX 110 DSP and the 256-bit ConnX 120 DSP adopt an N-way programming model and are fully compatible with the ConnX B10 and B20 DSP. They have outstanding software compatibility and are easy to transplant the code. Like the rest of the Tensilica DSP family, the ConnX 110 and ConnX 120 DSPs support the Tensilica Instruction Extensions (TIE) language, which allows customers to customize the instruction set, add specialized data types, and implement a tightly integrated interface between the DSP and external logic . In addition, the new DSP supports a comprehensive set of complex math library functions in the NatureDSP, Eigen and Radar libraries. All ConnX DSPs are automotive-ready and fully compliant with the ISO 26262 standard, ASIL-D or ASIL-B with FlexLock.
Tensilica ConnX 110 and 120 DSP
Has the following features and functions:
-
Optimized instruction set for radar, lidar and communications applications
-
128-bit (ConnX 110) and 256-bit (ConnX 120) SIMD performance for complex math operations in 8-, 16- and 32-bit fixed-point and half-, standard- and double-precision floating point
-
Common instruction set and simplified programming model enable code to be written once and can be used on ConnX DSPs of different SIMD widths in the ConnX series
-
Optimized architecture uses little memory and enables low-power signal processing
-
Optional acceleration instructions for linear feedback shifting, convolutional encoding, unimodal search, and bimodal search
-
ConnX 120 also offers Viterbi and Turbo decoders
“NXP’s ADAS products continue to use the Cadence Tensilica DSP core,” said Robert Dunnigan, director of ADAS program management at NXP® Semiconductors . “ We have released several generations of radar products, ranging from simple corner radars to advanced front-end and 4D imaging radars. solutions using these DSP cores. We look forward to the feature set and performance improvements the ConnX family will bring, as well as the continued focus on automotive ASIL-B/D support and ISO 26262 compliance for Cadence DSP products.” .
"Indie is committed to developing multiple sensor modes to improve vehicle safety and avoid crashes," said Lionel Federspiel, executive vice president of engineering at Indie Semiconductor . "Cadence's Tensilica ConnX series of processors combined with indie's architecture enable high-performance , low power consumption and area-optimized unique design solutions were successfully implemented. As a professional automotive solution innovator, quality and reliability are crucial to the success of our products."
"From the development trend of radar and communication processing, solutions with shorter time and stronger processing capabilities are essential." said David Glasco, vice president of Tensilica IP R&D at Cadence . "Automotive radar requires multiple antennas, high resolution and Fast and responsive systems. Likewise, 5G wireless communications require higher data rates and lower latency than previous generations. The Tensilica ConnX 110 and ConnX 120 DSPs meet these requirements, further enhancing the already efficient processing capabilities of the ConnX DSPs. It also enhances the processing capabilities of fixed and floating-point complex data while reducing power consumption and area.”
