South Korean media: Samsung may cut orders for 30 million mobile phones

Recently, according to Korean media reports, Samsung Electronics may cut its mobile phone production by about 30 million units this year, from the originally planned 310 million units to 280 million units. The order cuts cover Samsung mobile phones of all price ranges, even flagship models.

According to the latest report from Canalys, due to unfavorable economic conditions and low seasonal demand, global smartphone shipments fell 11% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2022, but Samsung still led the market with a 24% market share. From the external environment, global inflation and the Russia-Ukraine war have had a profound impact on the mobile phone consumer market. The three major domestic mobile phone brands Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo will also cut orders by about 20% in the next few quarters.

As of now, it is inevitable for mobile phone manufacturers to cut orders and reduce production. The demand in the mobile phone market is difficult to compare with that of a few years ago, and young people, who are the main consumers of mobile phone products, are increasingly unwilling to change their phones.
