On February 8, market research firm Counterpoint released a report stating that global smartphone shipments in 2021 increased by 4% year-on-year to 1.39 billion units. Among them, shipments in the fourth quarter of 2021 fell 6% year-on-year to 371 million units.

In terms of brand manufacturers, Samsung led the global smartphone market with annual shipments of 271 million units in 2021. At the same time, Apple, Xiaomi, OPPO and vivo all recorded their highest annual shipments ever.

The report said that the top five brands gained more market share due to Huawei's sharp decline and LG's exit from the market. Among them, Apple surpassed Samsung to become the largest smartphone supplier in the fourth quarter of 2021, with shipments of 81.5 million units.
