About Modbus slave response packet address [Copy link]

The master station of modbus stipulates that the address of the master station is 0, and the address of the broadcast packet is also 0

1. If the master sends a data packet with address 0 to the bus, all slaves need to process it.

2. If the master station sends a data packet to the slave station, just use the slave station address. At this time, only the slave station with this address will receive the data packet.

3. If the slave station responds to the master station's request, is the slave station's data packet address the slave station address or 0?

Question: What is the address of the slave when it responds to the master's request?

The Modbus slave responds to the command sent by the master and sends response data to the master. The address in the response data is the address of the slave.   Details Published on 2023-12-15 22:42

0 is the broadcast address, the slave executes but does not respond

The slave address executes and responds,

I'm not sure what the "response" in your article refers to?

There is only one host and it has no address. The slave address code is 1~247. 0 is the broadcast address. All slaves can recognize it but will not respond.
