Apple adds new 'Hello' screensaver in macOS 11.3

macOS Big Sur 11.3 includes a hidden "Hello" screensaver that appears to be designed for new iMac models, but it can also be installed on any Mac running the macOS 11.3 update.


As 9to5Mac outlined, the new screensaver isn't available by default, but with a simple set of actions, it can be accessed even by non-M1 ‌iMac‌ machines.


On a Mac running ‌macOS Big Sur ‌11.3, follow these instructions:


1. Open the system folder.

2. Click Library.

3. Click Screen Saver.

4. Drag the "Hello.saver" file to the desktop.

5. Rename the "Hello" file to something else.

6. Double-click the file.


7. Please follow the instructions to install.


You should then see the "Hello" screen saver added as an option to your Mac screen saver list.


The Hello screensaver cycles through various colors, with several themes to choose from.


By default, the screensaver will display "Hello" in multiple languages, but you can force it to only use your native language by turning off "Show Hello in all languages" in the screensaver options.
